For as long as we can remember, there has always been laws. Laws are there for the benefit of all. Today, across the globe, there are lots of laws. Some of this law are quite strange, and today I am bringing to you 10 strange laws from around the globe. If you don’t want to and up behind bars in a foreign country, you are gonna need this because these laws are very important to these countries. Let’s go.
1. CHEWING GUM IS BANNED IN SINGAPORE

Because of the high cost of cleaning gum litter from the streets, cinemas, parks, and other public places, the government of Singapore decided to put a ban on the sell, and consumption of gum. Also, because people were sticking gums on train doors, making them not to work, the government became angry at this, and decided to ban the chewing of gums in 1992. Since, 2004, however, the consumption of the dental, and nicotine containing gums are allowed, and they can be bought from a dentist or pharmacists.
Breaking this law has serious consequences, you could be charged a fine of $500- $1000, and if you are caught selling it, you could face a jail time. Well, thanks to this law, and other related laws, Singapore is one of the cleanest countries in the world. So, if you’re about entering Singapore, POP THAT BUBBLE.

2. WINNIE THE POOH IS BANNED IN POLAND

That’s right. Winnie the Pooh is banned in Poland, and you’re not allowed to wear a Winnie the Pooh T-shirt or anything associated with this cartoon character. Why? According to the Polish lawmakers, it was because of his “dubious sexuality”. They also accused poor Winnie for being a hermaphrodite. If you’re visiting Poland, remember this.
3. IT IS ILLEGAL TO SWEAR IN THE UAE.

It is illegal to swear in the United Arab Emirates, not even online. The use of the F word is a crime, and it can get you locked up. Don’t even think of raising up your middle finger, indecent gestures too, are not accepted. You can also receive fines of up to 500,000 dirhams for swearing online. As a tourist or immigrant, you could be deported or jailed for this act. Also, public display of affection is not welcomed. Be warned.
4. DO NOT BUILD SAND CASTLES IN SOME PARTS OF SPAIN.

As strange as it sounds, it is illegal to build sand castles in some parts of Spain like the islands of Majorca, and Galicia. If you are caught, you could be charged a fine of about EUR 150. In some cities like the city of Neishtadt, tourists are allowed to build the sand sculptures, the height of which doesn’t exceed 20cm. This law also applies to children. So, if you kids are caught ‘breaking the law’, you’re gonna foot the bill.
5. DO NOT LET YOUR CHICKENS CROSS THE ROAD IN GEORGIA.

As funny as it may sound, it is true. It is illegal to let your chickens cross the road in Georgia. Farm animal owners are required to control their animals, and not let them roam the streets. Emphasis is placed on the chickens, as the are seen as sacred. Why did the chicken cross the road? Georgians, definitely don’t know the answer.
6. IT IS ILLEGAL TO FORGET YOUR WIFE’S BIRTHDAY IN SAMOA.

A husband in Samoa could a face a jail time if he forgets his wife’s birthday. If he’s a first time offender, he’s released with a warning, but if he commits the offence again, he’s given sometime to think, behind bars of course.
7. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR HOME WITHOUT AN UNDERWEAR.
In Thailand, it is illegal to leave your home without an underwear. If caught you could be charged a fine. I wonder how the Thai police carry out this task.

8. DO NOT WASH YOUR CAR ON A SUNDAY IN SWITZERLAND.
In Switzerland, it is prohibited to wash your car on a Sunday. This law was put in place to reduce noise pollution coming from pressure hose. You’re also advised to use eco-friendly drive-in washers.

9. ALWAYS SMILE IN MILAN, ITALY.
In Milan, Italy, you are required by law to always smile except when you are in a hospital or at a funeral. Apart from these situations, you should always smile whenever you are in Milan.

10. YOU MUST LET ANYONE WHO ASKS USE YOUR TOILET IN SCOTLAND.

This law is an ancient Scottish tradition, and it requires that you let anyone use your toilet, as long as they ask. So, if you are hiking in Scotland, and you have a ‘kiech’ feel free to knock on any door you see and make use of their ‘cludgie’.
Which law did you find to be the most weird? Share in the comment section.
I find the chewing gum part weird and unbelievable (though personally I hate gums). What’s with the sand castles?

Well, as for the sand castles, they disrupt the view of others trying to enjoy the oceanic view.

Wow, interesting and funny! But it’s respectful, each country has reasons for those laws. Wife’s birthday is so cute though to be obligatory. 🤭😊

Yes they are, laws are made when the need arise, and these ones are no different. Also, I agree with you. A man has no excuse for forgetting his wife’s birthday.
